Natural Science and Mathematics
The Natural Science/Mathematics Division prepares students to transfer to four-year schools for bachelor’s of science degrees or to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math.
Students interested in pursuing bachelor’s degrees may choose from the following degrees:
- Associate of Science — prepares science and engineering majors for transfer to a four-year school with standing as a junior. Choose an emphasis in biology, chemistry, environmental science, geology and earth science, physics, computer science, general pre-engineering, and the pre-engineering areas of bioengineering: chemical, computer, electrical, mechanical, civil, industrial, and materials science.
- Associate in Applied Science-T— a transfer degree that lets students begin by taking the technical courses required for a job, but also gives them the option to pursue a bachelor’s degree. This degree prepares graduates for jobs requiring two-years of training or to transfer to specific programs at four-year schools to pursue a bachelor’s of science degree in industrial engineering or technical management. Choose to earn a degree in:
- Materials Science, which provides students real-world experiences in leading-edge labs as they get ready to enter many advanced manufacturing industries.
- Bachelor of Applied Science Information Management Degree students who successfully complete Edmonds Community College’s two-year Computer Information Systems degree may pursue this bachelor’s of applied science at Central Washington University-Lynnwood.
Students seeking to pursue or advance careers may earn certificates and two-year Associate of Technical Arts Degrees in these fields:
- Chemical Laboratory Technician
- Computer Information Systems (includes business systems analyst, database information technologies, desktop support specialist, digital forensics, information security, network security and Web application developer)
- Computer Science (includes Computer Game Development, UNIX/C++, Windows/C++ and Linux Security Specialist)
- Computers, Electronics and Networks (includes robotics)
